I inhabit this isolate body,
an island no matter how often or
ecstatically I try to fuse, Bodhi
tree weaving its roots under and over
the ground my biological being
sits on, legs crossed – I can’t do the lotus
any more – could I ever? Did I dream
that bent-leg base, spinal tree, that focus
not on the clothing that my flesh is, not
on the clothespins that the vertebrae are,
not even on the clothesline of the soul,
but on the invisible winds from far
over the ocean that cannot be caught
and on that which remains, even when still?
